Our in-house RMT Marie Itterman comes to us from Vancouver, the great west coast, land of mountains ocean and play.
After spending 3.5 years studying nursing in Melbourne, Australia, Marie returned to Vancouver realizing that she wanted to be on the preventative side of health and promote self-awareness. She then went on to study nutrition.
Through long distance running and, backcountry hiking/camping, Marie found yoga, which initially she viewed as 'a bunch of bending and stretching.' A few years later, after experiencing how much yoga improved her running/hiking and incurring less injuries, she studied 200 hours to become a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT 200) at Yoga Alliance. Always fascinated with the actions of the body, she went on to study an intensive 35 hour Yin Yoga which focuses on the fascia of the body, which is structurally and functionally important to the body. This in turn, led her to study registered massage therapy, which included pre-med and Orthopedic assessment and treatment.
Marie may be small, however don't underestimate her abilities to get in there.
